sambistas needed! especially tamborim/chocalho players
A request from Deborah Kogan:
Master Brazilian percussionist Jorge Alabe will return to the Bay Area
and lead his samba group, Quilombo.
Samba bateria classes will be held on an ongoing basis after Jorge's
return, beginning Sunday March 19.
Classes are every Sunday, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at:
Capoeira Angola Center
2513 Magnolia Street, Oakland
In West Oakland, easy to get to from Bay Bridge.
(880 south to West Grand Ave. exit; West Grand to Magnolia, turn left;
studio is between 24th and 26th Streets (1 block west of Adeline).
$15 per class, or $40 for four consecutive weeks
Our bateria is getting strong. Come and join us!
Quilombo will be preparing to play out on the street during the San
Francisco Carnaval at the end of May.
We are also looking for some people to join the group who would like to
play tamborim or chocalho in particular, and who have a little bit of
experience playing. Please come by or get in touch if that is you.
